Selecting your wedding photography vendor may seem like a formidable task; with so many choices, where do you start and how do you make the right choice? The following tips will help simplify the process and enable you to choose the perfect photographer for your needs!
Determine your style. If you aren’t aware of style categories, think about how you chose your colors, venue, dress, flowers, etc. Creating a board of wedding photos you like can help you narrow down the look you hope to capture, and it will usually fall into one of the following categories:
Traditional – This encompasses a contemporary version of the typical ‘posed’ photos you might find in your parent’s or grandparent’s album.

Adventurous – If you are bold and daring and like breaking out of the mold, you may want your photographer to chronicle your journey by following you on your travels. If your photog is experienced with shooting on the go and has a bold spirit, this may be a good fit!

Visual Artistry – Wedding photographers in this class are earnestly composing artistry while biographing the narrative of your day, with each picture having the potential to be an independent creation for display in a gallery.

Paparazzi – These photographers are versed in taking pictures of high-profile people, such as actors, athletes, politicians, and other celebrities, typically while subjects go about their usual life routines, and they know how to blend in and get shots you weren’t even aware of, often without you even knowing they were there!

Reporter Commentary – Done in the style of magazines like Cosmopolitan, Elle, and Vanity Fair, this style favors theatrical, sensational, extravagant images. Note that this may require additional time as shots may need to be highly choreographed.

Pensive and misty – This aesthetic is an editing feature that allows for the creation of compelling images from a viewpoint of film imagery, typically excluding vibrant, bright colors.

Final word: As you look through portfolios, estimate how much of these styles you’d like reproduced in your wedding photos. This will help you find the right photographers to begin interviewing. Start with their websites and social media accounts, and then call or email them to begin the interviewing process! We'd love to know your opinion!
